College Hockey News

The Hockey News featured an article by Ryan Kennedy about the ongoing dispute between the NCAA and the University of North Dakota over their name, mascot, and logos. Read it here.

… excerpt …

“Our biggest problem is the NCAA is calling us ‘hostile and abusive,’ but not Florida State (Seminoles), Central Michigan (Chippewas) or Utah (Utes),” Kojich said. “We don’t understand the criteria.”

… “They [the Florida Seminoles] have a white guy dressed up as an Indian riding a spotted horse and carrying a flaming spear,” he said. “We don’t have a mascot.”

Century Girls Are Back

Posted in: News Items, Uncategorized — admin @ 9:18 pm

Rochester Century Athletic Director Mark Kuisle announced Thursday night that Century High School will field a girl’s hockey team for the 2006-2007 season. Seventeen Panther girls are ready to take the ice, and the search is on to find games for the girls.

After last season, Rochester John Marshall, Rochester Century, and Rochester Mayo were forced to end their co-op hockey and form separate teams. In April, it was believed only Rochester John Marshall and Rochester Mayo could field teams in 2006-2007.

Good luck Panthers!
